The Best Design Awards are a major feature of the local design calendar and some of last year's winners have toured the country to offer first-hand insights into their projects.

Katie Valentine mentioned Prime Minister Jacinda Arden’s now famous quote: “climate change is my generation's nuclear-free moment” as a strong motivator for her Massey University project Sign of the Times.
The editorial project sought to educate parents of school-age climate strikers to the reasoning and importance of their movement.
She spoke at length of the countless hours of research - both visual and fact-based- which led to the award winning book. From the influence and power of punk-rock posters to the strength and beauty of a pared back, black and yellow palette.
