Best of the Best Designers Speak® - Video - Jasmax

The Best Design Awards are a major feature of the local design calendar and some of last year's winners have toured the country to offer first-hand insights into their projects.

The 2021 series was recorded on video. Here is one from the series of twenty recorded.

Jasmax Brand Identity
Clem Devine, PDINZ & Roberta Johnson
Jasmax

How does a large, well established architecture firm refocus and regain momentum after a particularly difficult period? It seems that part of it comes down to re-branding. Design veteran (his joke) Clem Devine explored some of the history of the Jasmax visual identity and how it fit within similar graphic work of its era.

He compared the former Jasmax logo to that of large corporates such as BNZ and AMI at the time (something along the lines of “the attack of the friendlies” and toothpaste influenced). He then went on to the explore the logic for the new logo and font choices.

Roberta Johnson then took the stage to further explore Jasmax’s branding direction, mostly as it sought to affirm its commitment to bi-culturalism. Their presentation was capped off with a stunning short video made by Exit Films to commemorate the rebrand and explore the nature/built environment in which architects operate.

Thanks Designworks for the pre-drinks venue
