Stand as a nation to reclaim one of our national taonga, the Haka.
Toi Manahau Designers Institute - Stand as a Nation - the Haka.
At the 1999 Rugby World Cup, Dame Hinewehi Mohi made history by performing our National Anthem in te reo Māori for the first time... putting teo reo and Māori culture on the world stage.
25 years on, she has issued another challenge for us, to reclaim the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ for the largest haka, which is currently held by France.
We need the help of our Toi Manahau community!
On Sunday September 29th 4.30pm Aotearoa will gather on the grounds at Eden Park to perform the haka and bring it home.
All peoples from all backgrounds are welcome to stand shoulder to shoulder and perform the haka. Join us and participate in this special moment in time.
This is about more than just setting the record straight. It is about returning the mana of this world record to the land of its origins. Deepen your relationship with the haka and Māori culture, and do it alongside some of Aotearoa's most celebrated musicians, supporting icons and kapa haka legends.
All funds raised go to the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre, established by Dame Hinewehi to bring wellness and healing through music.
