Te Kete Aronui
Background
Te Kete Aronui is a cultural immersion experience organised by DINZ and Ngā Kete Tuku Iho - The New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute (NZMACI).
Together building a relationship between the DINZ community and Māori.
In March 2021 a group of eleven multi-discplinary designers embarked on a three day te ao Māori cultural immersion - Te Kete Aronui.
Te Kete Aronui focused on the practices and rituals of the marae and aimed to provide a deep awareness of te ao Māori (the Māori world) and how this knowledge can be used to enrich individuals, whānau, workplace and engagement practices for DINZ and its members.
The experience gave those involved an understanding of Māori culture, history, language, customs and traditions so as to grow cultural leadership and build a foundation to engage effectively within a multicultural society.
