Julian will give an insight into his experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams on international transport projects, including London’s Crossrail. He will focus on how you can deliver a consistent level of design quality and enhanced customer experience on these large and complex projects.

Maynard is a London-based multidisciplinary design and wayfinding consultancy led by Industrial Designer and Creative Director Julian Maynard.
Guy will give an introduction to the practice, discussing how Julian and the team’s combined background has established a strong studio ethos based on the primacy of people and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.
Julian trained in Industrial Design at Manchester Metropolitan University and the Royal College of Art and is a fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers. He is a founding Director of the London-based multidisciplinary design practice Maynard.
He was Project Industrial designer for both the Waterloo and Ashford International high speed rail terminals, the Jubilee Line Extension stations and Manchester Metrolink, and is currently Principal Designer for the linewide architectural components package on Crossrail. He has broad experience working with clients in the UK and Asia Pacific developing and implementing strategic Design visions and guidelines for new and upgraded public transport projects.
Julian is interested in how people interact with services, products and environments and the opportunities that new technology can bring to enhance overall user experience. He is an acknowledged industry expert and is regularly an invited speaker at International transport conferences as well as participating on design review panels.
Guy Hohmann is a Canadian born, New Zealand raised industrial designer recently returned to New Zealand after 5 years working at Maynard’s London studio.
He has worked with various clients in the transport and urban realm sectors, including 3 years designing architectural components for Crossrail, the new east-west underground railway across London and Europe’s largest infrastructure project. Guy leads Maynard’s recently established Auckland studio.
