There is no such thing as a New Zealand typeface
A series of place names, each chosen to resonate and speak to our collective understanding of the New Zealand character.
This posed the question- what does a New Zealand typeface mean?

Te Omeka / Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct
Strongly influenced in its layout and architecture by European colonial settlers, Christchurch post-earthquake needed to redress its past cultural imbalances through design.
Working with local hapu Ngāi Tūāhuriri the new Precinct would embody both the process and outcome of repairing these relations, to build a stronger, more inclusive Christchurch for the future.
“Te Omeka is a legacy left by the people of Ngāi Tūāhuriri. It asks that our hearts and minds and different faiths be bound as one to the law of Crown and Queen so that the Treaty may speak to us all.” – Dr Maire Tau, Upoko of Ngāi Tūāhuriri
Sandra Atkinson DINZ & Toby Vincent DINZ, Smudge; Bronwyn Marshall, NZ Police
Smudge have been working with NZ Police since 2014, and most recently designed a mobile app together to help tackle, the single biggest social issue facing New Zealand today - domestic violence.
The Family Harm app gives frontline officers useful information in real-time such as historical episodes at the same location, providing them with valuable context in what is often an ongoing chain of events.
